Nevel Green heat solution for district heating supports city’s status as a forerunner in circular-economy, and carbon-neutral thinking

Nevel, a company focusing on advanced industrial and municipal infrastructure solutions, has piloted its first Green heat solution at a new school building operated by its long-term partner the City of Forssa and due to be finished in 2022.

Nevel’s Green heat solution enables customers to develop their sustainability credentials and is an economical way to generate 100% renewable energy. The project represents the first pilot case for Nevel’s Green heat solution and delivers CO2-neutral district heating for the city.

In Forssa, Nevel has also piloted a combined heating and cooling solution that generates cooling for a new school building in the city. Rather than being pumped out of the building and going to waste, the excess heat generated from cooling is then fed to Nevel’s district heating network.

The City of Forssa is a member of Fisu (Finnish Sustainable Communities), a network of Finnish municipalities committed to working towards curbing overconsumption and becoming carbon neutral and waste-free and by 2050.

“Nevel’s solution, an added-value product to our existing district heating, provides us with a combined heating and cooling package that is fully in line with our goals as a forerunner in sustainability. After this successful pilot project we are now investigating how to implement this solution in other buildings in the municipality too,” says Jukka Perälä, Manager, Real estate, City of Forssa.

“Our long-term partnership with the City of Forssa is founded on close cooperation and learning together,” says Clas Blomberg, Director, Municipal Infrastructure, Nevel. “This pilot project represents the next step in deepening our collaboration with the city and supporting their ambitious sustainability goals in terms of C02 neutrality and circular economy thinking.”
