Advanced utility infrastructure company Nevel Oy has acquired the Petäjävesi district heating business from Petäjäveden Energia. The Petäjävesi district heating network serves approximately 70 customers, including households as well as municipal and industrial customers in central Finland. The deal strengthens Nevel´s growth strategy of focusing on industrial and municipal infrastructure solutions and allows customers to take advantage of digital services.

Going forward, customers will benefit from digital services designed to optimise heating as well as access individual energy consumption data through an online customer portal. Hourly metering and e-invoices will also become available.

Following the acquisition, Nevel will monitor and run the network and has committed to investing in automation technologies to ensure high reliability and service quality of the network while meeting all relevant environmental standards.

For Petäjäveden Energia, securing reliable district heating services and improving the customer experience with modern technology were the primary drivers. “The good relationship we have had with Nevel, Nevel´s long experience and their expertise in digital solutions made this an attractive prospect for us,” says Seppo Kovanen, Chairman, Petäjäveden Energia.

“This acquisition aligns perfectly with our strategy. We’re continually looking for profitable growth opportunities and have been acquiring district heating networks for many years now to support our strategic goals,” says Clas Blomberg, Director Municipal infrastructure solutions, Nevel.

Nevel operates a total of 150 energy production sites, which rely on 90% locally sourced fuels, as well as 40 district heating networks.

The district heating network will be operated by Nevel from November 2019.
