Nevel is planning an extensive circular economy cooperation, which aims at processing of biodegradable side streams in Kotka, Finland. The aim of the cooperation is to form local circular economy, where industrial and municipal side streams are utilised in the energy value chain. The project is planned to create new opportunities for local business cooperation in Kotka. The operations helps utilise side streams, minimise waste, reduce emissions and speed up the sustainable transformation.
The biodegradable materials processing plant is planned to be operational during 2026.
The project has received investment support of Eur 4.7 million from the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment of Finland. Final investment decision, as well as obtaining of appropriate environmental and building permits are required for the initiative to realise.
