Nevel’s sustainable industrial infrastructure partnership with EAB and Tenzo set to reduce annual CO2 emissions by 1,000 tonnes

Nevel, a utility infrastructure company offering advanced industrial and real estate infrastructure solutions, will build a new biomass boiler plant and provide EAB and Tenzo with sustainable energy services in Smålandsstenar, Sweden. This investment represents an important step in strengthening sustainable energy production in Sweden.

In 2024, Nevel was granted investment support under ‘The Climate Leap’, a programme operated by the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency. This investment paved the way for the construction of a new biomass boiler plant in Smålandsstenar’s southern industrial district. By extending and unifying the entire local district heating network, the two industrial customers EAB and Tenzo will be connected to the main district heating network.

Through its partnerships with EAB and Tenzo and coming investments in the local district heating network, Nevel is well-positioned to deliver reliable and sustainable energy solutions to a broader industrial customer base in Smålandsstenar.

EAB designs and manufactures storage solutions, doors and steel buildings, and Tenzo designs and manufactures furniture. Through their partnership with Nevel, both companies will be able to transition away from natural gas to more sustainable energy sources. This strategic shift is expected to allow EAB and Tenzo to drastically reduce their annual CO2 emissions by an estimated 1000 tonnes, marking an important step in their sustainable transformation.

Per-Åke Andersson, CEO, EAB, said: “Nevel has acted proactively, dealt with all permits and been a genuine enabler for our organisation’s sustainable transformation. We are now looking forward to further developing and continuing this partnership in the years to come.”

Stefan Helgebring, Factory Manager, Tenzo, said: “With rising energy costs, Tenzo has been looking for a more cost-efficient and sustainable energy solution for some time. We are pleased to partner with Nevel and get access to their expertise and timely offering.”

Stefan Johnsson, Commercial Director, Nevel, said: “As Nevel further expands its network and energy production capacity, more customers can speed up their transition away from fossil fuels. This initiative to connect the district heating networks will increase the network’s flexibility, build a more balanced energy mix and reduce exposure to geopolitical changes and price fluctuations.”

Nevel has a strong footing in Smålandsstenar. In 2023, Nevel started cooperating with Trioworld to utilise and recover excess heat from its facility in Smålandsstenar, a process that promotes the circular economy and contributes to reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
